Val Brandet's Classic Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients with Measurements:
- 1 pound lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
