Toumin Dal with Curry Leaves Recipe

Ingredients with Measurements:
- 1 cup toor dal
- 3 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 10-12 curry leaves

Step-by-step instructions:
a. Rinse the toor dal in water and soak it for 30 minutes.
b. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, water, onion, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt.
c. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on high heat for 3-4 whistles.
d. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and mash the dal with a spoon.
e. In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
f. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
g. Pour this tempering over the dal and mix well.
h. Serve hot with rice or roti.
