Suman with Latik Recipe

Ingredients with Measurements:
- 2 cups glutinous rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Banana leaves, cut into 6-inch squares
- 1 can coconut cream

Special equipment needed:
- Steamer
- Large mixing bowl
- Saucepan

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Rinse the glutinous rice and soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
2. In a saucepan, mix the coconut milk, water, brown sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens. Set aside.
3. Drain the glutinous rice and mix it with the coconut milk mixture.
4. Take a banana leaf square and place about 2 tablespoons of the rice mixture in the center. Fold the leaf to form a rectangular shape and secure the ends with toothpicks. Repeat until all the rice mixture is used up.
5. Steam the suman for 30-40 minutes or until cooked.
6. While the suman is steaming, make the latik. In a saucepan, heat the coconut cream over medium heat until it curdles and the oil separates from the solids. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Once the solids turn golden brown, remove from heat and strain the latik.
7. Once the suman is cooked, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
8. Remove the toothpicks and unwrap the banana leaves.
9. Serve the suman with the latik on top.
