Bupyeon-Gim-Bap (Korean Rice Cake Seaweed Roll) Recipe

Ingredients with Measurements:
- 1 cup of short-grain rice
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of sliced carrots
- 1/2 cup of sliced cucumber
- 1/2 cup of sliced ham
- 1/2 cup of sliced imitation crab meat
- 1/2 cup of sliced pickled radish
- 5 sheets of roasted seaweed
- 1/2 cup of water for sealing the rolls

Special equipment needed:
- Bamboo sushi mat
- Plastic wrap

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain the rice and add it to a pot with 1 1/2 cups of water and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Cook the rice for 15 minutes, then remove it from the heat and let it sit for 10 minutes.

2. In a small bowl, mix together the sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.

3. Once the rice has cooled slightly, transfer it to a large bowl and add the seasoning mixture. Mix well to combine.

4. Add the sliced carrots, cucumber, ham, imitation crab meat, and pickled radish to the bowl with the rice. Mix well to combine.

5. Place a sheet of roasted seaweed on top of a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. Spread a thin layer of the rice mixture over the seaweed, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.

6. Use the bamboo mat to roll the seaweed and rice into a tight cylinder. Use the plastic wrap to help you roll the mat tightly.

7. Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into 1-inch pieces.

8. Repeat steps 5-7 with the remaining seaweed and rice mixture.

9. To seal the rolls, dip your finger in water and run it along the top edge of the seaweed. Press the edge down to seal the roll.
